Keep your own personal items: trophies, photographs, etc clean & dust free or take them home, cleaning personal items is not the custodians responsibility.  Paper or newspapers hanging on walls for extended periods (aprx 3 months) should be laminated or removed if they cannot be kept dust free.  Microwaves, toaster ovens, refrigerators, coffeepots, & couches are not allowed in classrooms (unless used for biology or medication) these items are to be kept in staff rooms only & must be kept clean.  DO NOT Bring ANY cleaning supplies or chemicals from home.  We can only use products approved & purchased through KCDA or approved vendors that will provide MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).  Custodians keep the updated MSDS books at each building & need to know what is in your building for poison control.

Earthquake Preparedness
* Drop, Cover & Hold *
Make sure heavy items are not kept on shelves that could fall on someone's head during an earthquake.  If you must store items high, make sure it is properly secured or very light weight.  Everyone is responsible for their own area or classroom - supervisors should enforce.

LIFTING - remember proper lifting techniques - get assistance - bend your knees but do not twist while lifting.  Take smaller loads or use a cart!

Visiting & Signing in at the Main office
- ANYONE visiting a school that is not their own school - including ESC staff, Administrators & Maintenance, should sign in (& out) at the main office when visiting those schools & either wear a name badge or pick up a guest badge.  This is for your safety!

ID Badges Staff ID Badges are available through Lifetouch at no extra charge during student photo sessions & retakes.  Lifetouch representative is Jason Brown 1-800-637-9833.  Schools are responsible for their own building ID badges & can make & use their own guest, visitor or substitute badges if they wish.  Debbie Bennett at the District office handles ID Badges for employees that work in the District Office, Maintenance Department, Floating Custodial Staff, & Transportation Department.
Be Safe:  A Chair is not a Ladder & should not be used as a Ladder!
