About Our Library and Information Center
It is our mission in the Artondale Library to provide books and information in a rich and challenging learning environment. Our library serves preschool through 5th grade classes on both fixed and flex schedules. The library is open to students before school, during lunch recesses and after school. The Primary Grades (K-2) can come to the library during their lunch recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the Intermediate Grades (3-5) have Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Students and staff use the library in a variety of
ways:
* to research using print and electronic resources
* recreational or free time reading
* computer work
* classes in information retrieval, evaluation and synthesis
* books on tape, knitting club, mentoring
We are indebted to the dedication and hard work of the 5th grade Student Librarians who handle the circulation of library materials for the daily classes visiting the library. Our library is also extremely grateful to the constant and tireless work of our community volunteers who somehow manage to not become discouraged by the stacks of books needing to be shelved or repaired.

ATN Book Lists
This vast resource offers many lists. You will find
grade level lists here as well as theme/subject, award winners and even some gift
ideas. You will also find
a K-6 Library Skills curriculum written by Dale Copps on the ATN site.
"These recommended reading lists were created by one or more members of
the international school librarian's listserv, LM_NET,
Mike Eisenberg and Peter Milbury, owners, and by other international K-12 librarians. The
reading lists were started as part of a librarian collaborative project, All Together Now,
begun by Dale Copps.
The recommendations are now
harvested from a variety of listserv such as Childlit, Booktalkers @egroups.com, YALSA,
etc."
Parent/Community Library
*Artondale Library
has a special collection of books with parents in mind.
The titles in this collection deal with a variety of subjects. You will find
books offering craft projects your children will love as well as materials
offering help dealing with difficult issues we may encounter as parents. Please visit the
library and browse the collection. Remember, you are always welcome in our library and
we encourage you to check out any books. Ask the librarian to point
you in the direction of the Parent/Community Library.
