Course Overview

           Valuing Abilities is a course designed for special education students who are entering the world
          of work. This course meets the needs of the individual students enrolled each semester
          depending upon each student’s skills and work experience. The curriculum will include resume
          building, interviewing skills, budgeting, transportation, observations and volunteer experiences.  

       

 

   ·    Transportation 
                         o   Acquire Pierce Transit Disabled Bus Pass
                         o   Ride the #100 Route around Gig Harbor
                         o   Plan a trip to the Tacoma Mall using TCC transfer station
                         o   Ride bus to obtain employment applications from local businesses

           ·    Employment Inventory
                         o   Bridges computer program
                         o   ASVAB 

          ·    Volunteer Work Sites
                         o   Custodial at PHS
                         o   SAVE Thrift Store
                         o   Bridgeway Market

          ·     Certificates and Letters
                         o   Food Handlers Card
