| Back to CTE | Technical Design I begins with an
introduction to sketching and hand drafting techniques. Students learn
the standard conventions associated with communicating graphically to a
technical audience. They learn shape geometry, lettering practices,
drawing instrument use, geometric constructions, dimensioning standards,
orthographic projection, two dimensional representations of three
dimensional views, line types, scale, and drawing media. Students then learn the basics of computer assisted design. They begin with basic computer drawing operations and learn coordinate systems for two-dimensional drawing. They complete exercised designed to teach them to master key drawing commands, such as line, circle, arc, polyline, erase, polygon, text, hatch, dimension, array, copy, mirror, chamfer, fillet, snap, break, extend, trim, align, move, and rotate. They also learn editing and initial plotting techniques. Three dimensional uses of CAD will be
introduced, but the focus of this class is on mastering two-dimensional
drawing techniques. |
