This course is for 11-12th grade students interested in exploring a career in teaching, or educational related field working with children, such as counseling.  It will provide students with both academic preparation and field experience.  Students will be placed with a mentor teacher in grades K-8.  Throughout the course, students will experience the inner-workings of the classroom, school, and district.  Students will perform a variety of duties such as tutoring, grading, and lesson planning.  Be prepared to create bulletin boards,  learning games, and positive methods to motivate kids.  Leadership and responsibility are strongly emphasized.

Students must complete all requirements with a grade of "B" or better to be eligible  for college credit.  Students usually need to complete two semesters in order to achieve all required competencies for these credits. Please see the instructor at each high school for more information. Excellent  attendance are needed to be successful in this class as the majority of the competencies are accomplished in the classroom placement.  This class is highly recommended for anyone considering a career working with children.
