Back to CTE

State Framework

This course will introduce students to fitness and performance evaluation and assessment. Students who are interested in health therapy occupations, such as sports medicine, are encouraged to take this class. Students will have the opportunity to simulate the collection of client data for the purpose of planning and prescribing strategies to improve athletic performance, and to better prevent or treat injuries. They will actively engage in athletic movements that will enhance performance. This is to include strength and conditioning, flexibility, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. Studies will also include other key principles that contribute to health and performance, such as nutrition and alternative health factors to reduce risk. Students may pursue an industry standard Personal Trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
