Q. |
What if a parent decides a half-day program is best for
his/her child? |
A. |
Parents have the option of deciding that their child
will attend for only half the day. Kindergarteners must
attend in the morning, and parents are responsible for
picking up their child prior to lunch; there is no mid-day
transportation for kindergarten students. |

|
Q. |
Will All Day Kindergarten require more classroom space
in the elementary schools? |
A. |
Each elementary school in the District will have at
least 2 all-day kindergarten classrooms, with many of the
schools having 3 or 4 classrooms. More space is required
since the kindergarteners will be staying all day, but at
this time, all elementary schools will be able to
accommodate the classrooms needed. |

|
Q. |
Does All Day Kindergarten cost anything? Are there any
tuition fees? |
A. |
All-day kindergarten is provided at no cost to parents.
The State of Washington funds ½ day kindergarten programs,
so the remainder of the cost of the all-day program will be
supported by the District. |

|
Q. |
Why does the District have an All Day Kindergarten at
all elementary schools? |
A. |
The District is very supportive of early learning
programs, and over the past decade there has been an
increased interest in the earliest years of a child’s life.
Investing in those early years is showing positive results
in improved academic performance and graduation rates.
Providing the program district-wide offers equitable
opportunity for all families. |
