Unit 3 Project: Night Sky Observation    Due: January 4th/5th

·        This assignment is one of the requirements to earn an A grade for the unit.

·        Use the star chart you constructed in class to make two observations that are
at least 3 hours apart in time of day (examples - 5:30pm and 9:00pm, 8pm and 7am).

·        Choose an appropriate
time: morning, evening or night when the sky is completely or mostly clear
location: a dark place, away from bright lights, where most or all of the sky is visible, especially the northern horizon.

·        Gather your materials:
star chart
small flashlight to read chart (red is best)
warm clothes - bundle up!

·        Set your star chart to the correct date and time.

·        Determine your orientation (N, S, E, W) using the North Star, compass, GPS, or map.

·        Observe each section of the sky. Describe what you see on the Observation Record.
