My name is Janessa Thornton. I grew up in Olalla, Washington. I earned a bachelors degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington and a Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Nevada, Reno. This is my seventh year working in Peninsula School District. In my role as a
school speech-language pathologist (SLP), I work with a variety of students with
communication needs. I enjoy my work with students and am enthusiastic about
teaching them the power and value of connecting with others through
communication. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. email: thorntonj@peninsula.wednet.edu

Welcome to the Speech Room: Students work on a variety of communication skills through individual and small group instruction. We work on improving our speech in a variety of settings (the classroom, speech room, recess, field trips, etc). In the speech room, students learn communication skills through a variety of hands on activities. Check out what's new by clicking on the new tab.
Many students find it helpful to 'move' while learning. Some students are more focused when sitting on a ball chair. Other students perform best when given a hand fidget or a weighted pal (the weighted snake is great around shoulders and the weighted lizard is best on a lap).
