Character Collage

You will produce a collage that embodies one of the characters from The Kite Runner. In doing so, you need to capture the dual nature of the character based on, at least, two communities of which he/she is a part. Your collage must include:

1) Physical descriptions either through symbols, images/pictures, or words. (10%)

2) Representations of personality traits similar to above, including hobbies or passions of the character. There may be some traits that are shared despite the community in which he/she exists. However, there should also be others that are unique to that place, group of people, and experience(s).  (25%)

3) Representations of at least 3 specific conflicts the character is or has faced. At least one conflict must have been experienced in both communities. the other two may be specific to one community. (25%)

4) An original motto reflective of the character in both (or more) communities. This may be a quote from the novel or you may elect to make up an original motto for the character.(10%)

5) A identification, either through symbols, images/pictures, or words, of the major theme(s) that you feel the character embodies. (10%)

6) You will need to include a typed, double spaced explanation on the back of your collage that explains, in detail, the individual aspects of your sketch-collage, especially in reference to the two (or more) communities that are presented. (20%).

You may use any combination of magazine clippings, words, quotes from the text, or other materials to create a collage representative of the character. However, this is intended to be an abstract representation of the character so text (aside from the motto) should be very limited or serve a very specific purpose as explained by your typed analysis (#5 above). You will be graded on thoroughness, professional appearance and significant effort displayed, as well as the depth of thought captured within the criteria above.
