Literature Assessment: Unit One – Cultural Conversations

Utilizing all the texts we have read in this unit, complete the following final summative assessment on a single piece of paper.

1.        On the top:,  write the definition of “Culture” (1)

2.       Below that definition, write no more than a two sentence personal statement answering this question:  Based on the literature we read, how does culture, yours and others’, affect you? (3 answers)

3.       Then, identify five quotes from at least three sources that taught you something about your developing attitude about culture and influenced your personal statement. Cite each quote properly (internal citation will suffice, pun intended…) Each quote must be appropriately chosen and clearly tied to your personal statement. The sources you use can include one of  the surveys we completed. (5 + 5 answers)

4.      Underneath each quote provide a single word, of your choosing, that links that quote to your personal statement (ex: COMMUNICATION). Each word must be different. (5 answers)

5.       Finally, provide a single image that ties all the texts and your writing together under one comprehensive idea. (2 answers, 1 picture + 1 word)

All criteria above must be included on one side of one single piece of paper. This instruction sheet will also serve as your scoring criteria.  Please attach it to the back of your work.
