I. ASSIGNMENT

A.     Pick a topic which deals with a cultural aspect of medieval Europe.

B.     Some possible topics include, but are not limited to:

4.      Festivals and holidays.                          14.  Village life.

7.      Jewish Communities                              17.  Monks and nuns.

8.      Stained glass windows.                         18.  Myths and legends.

9.      Science and Technology.                      19.  Weapons and warfare.

10.  Medical practices.                                20.  Heraldry.                          

C.     Focus your research around a specific question you ask within your general topic.  For the purposes of this assignment ask a focused question dealing with content rather than a general question about values. 

D.     Communicate the answer to the question through a visual which includes:

1.      A clear title and subtitle (use your research question).

2.      Pictures with captions that provide enough information to clearly understand the answer to your research question.   

E.      Attach a word-processed analytical paper which explains how your topic reflected key medieval beliefs and values (minimum of two). 

1.      Support your analysis with a direct quote for each value which is smoothly integrated and cited.

2.      Include the source of the quotes in a Works Cited list.

F.      Present your information to the class in an organized 1-2 minute speech which uses your visual to explain:

1. the question you researched.

2. significant information you learned which answers your question (limit to three main points).

   (Why is this information important? What does it say about their beliefs & values? What does this tell you about

    your  subject? what does this prove? )

3. what this illustrates about the Middle Ages (limit to one observation).
