SKILLS NEEDED FOR THE EXHIBITION

Every unit of study the students will be working on the some of the skills listed below.  All the skills are necessary for the successful completion of the Sophomore Exhibition during second semester.

A. RESEARCH SKILLS:

  1. Finding credible sources.

  2. Evaluation of internet sites.

  3. Note-taking/highlighting.

  4. Paraphrasing information

  5. Appropriate use of source material.

  6. Outlining.

  7. MLA citations.

B. WRITING SKILLS:

  1. Thesis.

  2. Topic sentences.

  3. Development/support.

  4. Use of direct quotes.

  5. Internal citations.

  6. Transitions.

  7. Active voice.

  8. Conventions.

  9. Writing/editing process.

C. SPEAKING SKILLS:

  1. Eye contact.

  2. Word choice.

  3. Volume/pace.

  4. Voice.

  5. Body posture.

  6. Use of visual.

D.  CRITICAL THINKING/ANALYSIS

  1. Evaluating point of view.

  2. Making inferences.

  3. Synthesis.

  4. Stating personal opinion supported with rational argument  and evidence.
