Pacific Northwest History

This course is primarily designed for students who have moved to the area without having already taken a regional history course at a previous high school.

Goals of the Course:

• Students will be well-equipped to make good decisions based on background knowledge of regional issues, communities, cultures, and economics.

• Students will gain knowledge of the values of various groups in the region's past.

• Students will gain knowledge of how conflicts have been handled throughout the region.

Projects: For the final project, each student will select a contemporary controversial issue, explain the background information create a script of an argument including various points of view, defend his or her opinion, and create a persuasive magazine ad. This project will be due at the beginning of the last class the week before the semester ends. Click here to see instructions for last year's project.
