Unit One: Colonization and the Constitution
American Dream poster and explanation paper, due Monday, September 15th
Complete poster as assigned on handout. It should be neat and creative and clearly represent The American Dream as you see it.
Part 2: Write a one page typed and double spaced explanation of your poster. The explanation should explain how your poster represents the American Dream and define the dream to the best of your ability. It should also include at least one direct quotation from the Steinbeck reading.

Create a chart showing the way the Civil War changed the US in the following ways: economic, political, social, technological Then, pick one change that still affects us today and explain how it still effects us today.
Wednesday November 5th: Discuss election results, HW: find one article dealing with the election, specifically look for articles discussing why someone one or what it means. Bring article to class and write a one page summary in notebook.

Purpose: to explain to a friend in a letter how your life has changed because of US expansion and how it had affected you and your family.

Vietnam: Roots of Conflict
Read pages 884-888 in your book, as you read complete two tasks:
1. Create a timeline of the key events surrounding the United States getting involved and then escalating its involvement in Vietnam. You will also add illustrations to this timeline.
2. Pick out three direct quotations from the book dealing with the decisions that led the US to get involved. You will need these later for the unit project.
Both of these can be done on either side of the notebook.
