Tuesday (22 Mar):
Lab: O2 in Atmosphere
Question: Does burning oxygen (O2) get rid of it?
Hypothesis: (Predict % of O2 in the air with reason
Procedures:1. Measure the total volume of water that a 100ml cylinder can hold (to the very top).
2. Wax the candle to the bottom of the glass bowl (so it won’t float).
3. Fill the bowl between 1/4 to 1/3 with water.
4. Place the 100-ml cylinder (no water) over the burning candle and record the amount of water that the cylinder drew up.
5. Calculate the % of O2 in the atmosphere (ml H2O / volume of cylinder)
