Lab: Velocity of a Ramp

Question:

A. How does the angle of a ramp affect the velocity of a rolling object?

C. (You make one that relates someway to this lab)

Background:

Hypothesis: (make your own)

Material: Ramp, car or ball, stopwatch, tape, books, protractor

Procedures (Part A):

  1. Obtain listed material, set up ramp using books. Measure angle.
  2. Put a small strip of tape 1 to 3 meters away from bottom of ramp.
  3. Roll car down ramp. Start time: once object hits the floor. End time: once the object reaches the 3 meter mark.
  4. Record data
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 two more times.
  6. Calculate and record: average time and average speed.
  7. Make a new angle on ramp and repeat steps 1-6 using new angle.
