Peninsula School Board
The Board normally
meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at
6:00 p.m. in
the Board room of the District Administration Office (14015-62nd
Ave. NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98332). The first meeting of the month is
a regular business meeting, while the second meeting is reserved
for a study session where one or more topics is discussed in
depth. Study sessions give the Board an opportunity to study an
issue without making a decision. Occasionally, the Board will
meet in one of the district's schools or change the date of a
meeting, so it is best to check the District's website or call and
confirm the meeting time and location (530-1000).
During the months of
November, December, July and August the Board may schedule only a
single meeting (no study session). These will be regular business
meetings held at the District Administration Office. Dates and
times are publicly advertised and available on the District's
website.
State law permits the
Board to go into executive session only to discuss property
acquisition, personnel issues, property agreements, security
matters or consultation with attorneys. Although discussion of
these items may occur in executive session, action can only be
taken in a public meeting.
When necessary,
special meetings may be called. This occurs when action cannot
wait until the next regularly scheduled Board meeting. Generally
these meetings will only address a single issue and the local
newspapers are advised at least 24 hours in advance. Special
meetings are also posted at the School District Administration
Office.
